Socorro "Cora" Miranda left this world peacefully with many of her loved ones by her side on Tuesday, December 30, 2013 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Cora was born on May 26, 1930 in Pirtleville, Arizona, one of 8 brothers and sisters. Her parents were Juan and Encarnacion Nevarez. After graduating from Douglas High School in 1949, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she eventually met the love of her life, Rudolph Miranda. They were married on June 27, 1953 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage. Together, they had 5 children and is survived by her sons, Rudy "Orby" and Mark, and her daughter, Jennifer; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Cora was preceded in death by her daughters, Barbara (Sister M. Michelle) and Monica. Cora, an active member of the Catholic Church enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. She was very much loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held at the Funeraria del Angel Mortuary, 795 W 28th St, Yuma, Arizona on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. (AZ time) at St. Thomas Indian Mission, 350 Picacho Rd., Winterhaven, California. Interment will take place on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
