Sofia L. Martinez, 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was born on August 24, 1925 in Yuma. Sofia is survived by her husband, Jose G. Martinez; son, John (Alma) Martinez of Mesa, Arizona; daughter's, Rosie Martinez, Margaret (Brian) Lee, and Mary (Ray) Laurel; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Ernesta) Lorona. Sofia was preceded in death by her brother's, Lupe Lorona and Gene Lorona. A visitation is being held at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be John L. Martinez, Brian Lee, Fredrick Pena Jr., Ray A. Laurel II, Ruben Joseph Ponce, and Jesse Galvez. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Lorona Jr. and Bobby Lorona.
