Sonja rachel , 71, of Cairo, Cairo, passed on October 08, 2021. Sonja was born on January 01, 1950. she died from COVID-19 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Sonja was born August 5, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Earl and Helen Bernard. She was a graduate of Westport High School and worked for over thirty five years at Marsh’s Sunfresh as an Office Manager. She enjoyed arts and crafts and shopping. She always stayed in contact with her extended family and kept her family connected sharing their activities and accomplishments. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her dog, Bonzo. She is preceded in death by her partner of twenty five years Mark Menke; and her brother Joe Bernard. She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Edwards (Oliver); siblings Bill Bernard and Nikki Starbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 5, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery.
