Sophia Johansson , 89, of Asbury Park, New Jersey, passed on February 02, 2023. Sophia was born on May 18, 1933 in a lumber camp near Boring, Oregon.

Having grown up in a strict household, she sought freedom as soon as she was able. Leaving home in 1950, she drove her 1945 woody wagon from state to state. Taking odd jobs at diners and hotels, she made friends but lived a guarded life. She also was frugal and saved her money.

Survived only by a niece, Alicia, and a distant cousin, Maxine, she has chosen to leave her estate to various charities.

Neighborhood children remember her for handing out chocolate chip cookies at Halloween.
