Speranza GuerrieroPleasant Valley - Speranza Guerriero (80), also known as Hope, passed away peacefully in the comforting presence of her children, grandchildren and extended family on June 8, 2017.She was born on December 15, 1936 in the town of Alife, Province of Caserta, Italy. She was married on October 31, 1959, to Alfonso Guerriero. They immigrated to America and settled in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she remained a life long resident. She spent many years as a seamstress in local fabric textile companies and retired after ten years of working as a kitchen aide at Saint Francis Hospital. Speranza is survived by her son, Vincent and wife Cinzia, daughter Rossana and husband Alan and her grandchildren, Noah (17), Jenna (15), Joshua (12), Zachary (12) and Aaron (11). She is also survived by her brother Rolando, brother Tony and wife Rose, brother Mario and wife Kathy, brother Renato, sister-in-law Stephanie, brother-in-law Rodolfo and wife Rita and brother-in-law Peter and wife Marie along with many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband, Alfonso, her parents Girolomo and Luigi and her brother Fernando. We are celebrating Speranza's life at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Her funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 at 11:00 am. She is best remembered for her sense of humor, long funny stories and the love for her family, especially her grandchildren who found great pleasure joking around with her.
