Stanley Allen Post, 72, passed away at his home on November 19, 2016. Stan was born on August 31, 1944 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was the oldest son of Perry Allen and Maxine (Reppond) Post. His family moved to Silver, Texas when he was 5 years old. Stan grew up surrounded by family and friends in the tiny company town. Stan attended the Silver school through 9th grade and graduated high school at Colorado City, Texas in 1963. After graduation, Stan attended Angelo State University. Stan was drafted into the Army in October of 1966 and was stationed in Baltimore, Maryland and Bedford, Pennsylvania until he was honorably discharged in October of 1968. After his time in the service, Stan returned home to Robert Lee, Texas where he began his career with Union Texas Petroleum. Stan married Claudia Anne McGinley on April 24, 1971. Together, his work would take them to cities throughout Texas, Colorado, Mississippi, and Louisiana before retiring in 2015 with Southwestern Energy in Maumelle, Arkansas. Stan loved watching college football and was talented working with his hands through woodwork, upholstery and car restoration. He loved a good challenge and was always ready to help his friends, children, and grandchildren with their various projects. Stan is survived by his children, Bryan (Meredith) Post and Kelly (Adam) Potteiger. He was "Pop" to Caden Malott, Conner Post and Jacob "Jack" Potteiger. Also surviving is his sister, Pansy Bloodworth; brother, Mike (Kathy) Post; in-laws, Betty Drennen, Ruth (Donny) Robertson, Kay (Ross) Adkins, and Terry (Mary) McGinley and many nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by his parents and brother in-laws Clayton Bloodworth, Bill Mundell, and Bill Drennen; and sister-in-law, Cathy McGinley. Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Family will be present from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Robert Lee Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow at the Robert Lee Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arkansas Food Bank (www.arkansasfoodbank.org) at 4301 West 65th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 or to any charity of your choosing.
