Stanley R. JohnsonZANESVILLE: Stanley Robert Johnson, 95, of Zanesville, died at 6:41 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015, at his home. He was born on February 22, 1920, in Cleveland, a son of Carl Adolf Johnson and Pearl Francis Martin. He honorably served his country in the Army in the Philippines in
World War II. Following the war, he moved from New Rochelle, NY to Zanesville with Ruth Ida Johnson and began working on the warehouse floor at GE in New Concord, OH in 1947. He retired from General Electric in 1982 as Marketing Manager for GE's Appliance Parts Distribution Operation after 35 years of honorable service. He led and developed many advertising programs. He also led and hosting many distributor meetings around the country while entertaining clients from all over the world. In 1969, Stan partnered with 9 other others to develop and operate Green Valley Golf Course, a par three golf course in Zanesville. Stan was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for over 50 years and served as usher for 24 years. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 29 and volunteered at Bethesda Hospital. He served in the local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs and was a long-time member of the Zanesville Country Club. He was an avid golfer. He loved and celebrated his wonderful family and he loved to entertain. Survivors are his daughter, Laurie (John) Crane of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Robert (Sabrina) Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ and Jeffrey Johnson of Dove Canyon, CA; two step daughters, Susan (John) Rosenberger and Rebecca (John Todd) Karam of Columbus: a stepson, Robert (Terry) Zellar of Columbus: five grandchildren; seven step grandchildren: two great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 43 years, Ruth Ida Johnson; his beloved second wife of 15 years, Phyllis Marie Zellar Johnson: one sister, Mary Jane Zellar; and two brothers, Richard Carl Johnson: and Paul B. Johnson. Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. till time of service at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Rev. Mark Matzke officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the United States Army in conjunction with the
