Stella Kulik, 93 years young, formerly of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2017. She was surrounded by her family. Stella was born on December 28, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Samuel and Anna Fritz, Polish immigrants. She attended St. Joseph grade school in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Kansas City North High School. She attended Rockhurst College. She married Walter J. Kulik on June 10, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, after writing him while he served in Italy in World War II. She worked for a number of Kansas City institutions, including Western Auto, TWA, Honeywell Corp. (previously Bendix Corporation) and finished her career at the Kansas City Royals. Stella was a life-long Catholic and enjoyed saying the rosary nightly. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus parish and Nativity in Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, sisters Mary, Helen, and Gladys, her brother Frank and her daughter-in-law Cheryl. She is survived by her son Michael Kulik, her daughter Mary Pfaff (Jeff), her loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews and many close family friends. She was blessed to welcome her great- granddaughter Lea in July, 2016. Stella loved her family greatly and was immensely proud of all of them. Services will be at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 East 75th Street, KCMO. The visitation is scheduled for 12:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2017 followed by a rosary and mass. A reception at the church will immediately follow. All are welcome to celebrate our Mom and Grandma. A private burial will be on Saturday. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor or Catholic Charities. Condolences may be left online at
