Stella Stuart Troutman Tichenor, 95, passed away from this life Friday, April 3, 2015, at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown. A lifelong native of Mount Washington, Stuart was born on May 31, 1919, to Clyde and Isalene Harris Troutman on a farm her parents owned on Salt River. A graduate of Mount Washington High School in 1937, she then attended the University of Louisville and started to work at Southern Bell Telephone Company in Louisville until she married Lloyd Tichenor in 1944. Stuart was a strong individual, always supportive of her community and church, and always surrounded by those who respected and loved her. As a Christian, one of Stuart's greatest loves was First Baptist Church of Mount Washington where she was a lifelong member in serving the Lord. Stuart and Lloyd served as church treasurers for 45 years. Besides helping Lloyd run the family farm, Stuart worked as a school secretary at Mount Washington schools for 11 years in the 1960s and 1970s. She was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross, assisting in blood drives, and was a passionate UK basketball fan.After 70 years of marriage, Lloyd preceded her in death by three months. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen.Survivors include a daughter, Susan T. Sloane (Mike); a daughter-in-law, Linda Tichenor; four grandchildren, Charles Tichenor (Mollie), Michael Stuart Sloane (Jessica), Virginia Sloane Raeuchle (Brandon), and Rebecca Tichenor Serrano (Brandon); and one great- grandson, Sullivan Sloane.A celebration of Stuart's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Coakley Chapel of First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Stuart's memory be made to First Baptist Church of Mount Washington.McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
