Stephanie Morrow Glenn, M.D., passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, after an eight year battle with cancer.She was born on April 12, 1955, in Albemarle. She was the daughter of Chalmers (Cham) Glenn and Sylvia Morrow Glenn.Stephanie graduated from Shelby High School in 1973, where she was an outstanding student athlete. She is a 1977 graduate of Wake Forest University with a BA in Chemistry where she was Phi Beta Kappa, a Carswell scholar and played two varsity sports - basketball and volleyball. After graduation, she enrolled in Bowman Gray School of Medicine, receiving her M.D. degree in 1981.After completing her residency at Carolinas HeathCare System, she began her medical practice with the Nalle Clinic and continued her family practice in Charlotte for the next 25 years.She was the recipient of the Gene Hooks Achievement Award from the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame and kindly served for many years on the Medical Alumni Association Board of the Wake Forest School of Medicine.Above all else, Steph was simply a great person who left much good will in her wake. Her faith, family and friends sustained her during her fight with cancer, but in the end she always gave more than she ever wanted to receive.She is survived by her parents of Norwood; her brother, Chal and his wife, Robin of Sumter, South Carolina; nieces Jennifer and McKenzie; and nephew Josh. She is also survived by her closest and dearest companion of 29 years, Michael Evans.She was preceded in death by her grandparents David and Bertha Morrow of Albemarle; Dorothy Frazier Glenn and Chalmers L Glenn Jr. of Badin and Winston-Salem.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Salem Cemetery in Winston- Salem.A reception will follow at Salem Funerals & Cremations, 120 S. Main Street, Winston-Salem. The family is requesting that you attend in casual attire.
