Stephen D. Clayton, 67, of Kenneth City, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 27, 2022.
Steve was born on June 28, 1954 in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was raised by loving parents, the late Joan and Louis Caretti.
Steve enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer. He had an admirable work ethic and was a dedicated employee, retiring in December 2015 from Magnum Venus Plastech, where he worked as a machinist and later a supervisor. It was at this job that he met the love of his life, Lisa, whom he married in May of 1995. Steve had a passion for fishing and loved spending time on his boat. He also loved music, particularly classic rock.
Steve was kind and generous, always ready to help those who needed it. Because he was a modest man, we may never truly know the extent of Steve’s charitable nature, but we can be certain that his quiet willingness to give of himself to others made a difference in many lives.
In addition to his beloved wife, Lisa, Steve is survived by his sister, Sue (Jim) Dodd of Buchanan, Virginia; in-laws Barry and Linda (Ma Bell) Hallas of Boardman, Ohio; three nieces and a nephew; five great nieces and three great nephews; and many treasured extended family and friends. Steve is also survived by his three girls, Australian Labradoodles Sydney, Tegan, and Storm.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his cherished dogs Gizmo, Sheba, Amos, Andy, Suzanna, and Louie, who we know were waiting for him at the bridge.
Steve’s family will be privately celebrating his life and we encourage those who loved him and those whose lives he touched to do the same. Go fishing. Spend time with your loved ones. Hang out with your pets. Crack open a cold one and listen to music with your friends. Be happy in remembering the amazing man Steve was.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Steve’s memory through donations to Lighthouse of Pinellas for the Blind and Visually Impaired, or through donations to your favorite animal rescue.
