Stephen Edward Mizerek passed away peacefully at home December 28th, 2015.
His wife, Wanda Lottie (nee Kozuchowski) Mizerek, born April 21st, 1930 pre-deceased Stephen on September 12th, 2010.
They were very happily married for 62 years, living first in New Jersey. After stints in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago they ultimately settled for a long and peaceful retirement in the Sacramento area.
Stephen and Wanda had three children: Irene, Alicia and Janet, all of whom are surviving. They both derived immense enjoyment from their family, as well as, their Catholic faith. Their Polish roots were proudly acknowledged and revered, while allegiance to the United States of America was paramount.
Stephen was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1929, the eldest son of second generation Polish immigrants. His younger brothers, Edmund and Ronald both survive him.
Stephen received his college education from USC, achieved a BS in Business and a Master degree in Business Management. He attributed his educational success to the encouragement and support of his wife Wanda.
Stephen's early career was in banking in New York City, followed by eight years of service in the U.S. Army. He was based in Fort Meade, MD in a financial controller position during the Korean War.
Following honorable discharge in 1960, Stephen went on to a long, illustrious and successful career in the oil industry, working in a variety of management and sales roles initially for Tidewater, and ultimately Conoco Phillips through the 1970s and early 1980s.
Retiring in 1985, Stephen and Wanda enjoyed many years of home and family life, plus foreign travel to locales as diverse as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
In the twilight of their lives, they were blessed with grandchildren which greatly enriched them with their vast repertoire of knowledge, experience and wisdom.
All surviving family mourns Stephen and Wanda’s passing, while fondly remembering with great love and their inestimable contribution to our own lives.
