Stephen H. Menard, Sr., 78, longtime Fremont resident, died on July 24, 2017 at the Exeter Hospital. He was born on January 13, 1939, in Chelsea, MA, son of the late Philip F. and Edith (Carter) Menard. Steve grew up in Chester and graduated from Raymond High School. He married Phyllis Langton in 1958 and they moved to Fremont and started a family. Steve worked for AT&T for 36 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Epping for many years. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and woodworking. Steve coached Little League in Fremont and helped start Fremont's farm team. He was active in Cub Scouts, Webleos and Boy Scouts and was a former Scout Master. He also served on the Fremont Planning Board for several years.Steve was predeceased by his siblings, Philip Menard, Daniel Menard and Judith Brown. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Langton) Menard; two sons, Stephen H. Menard Jr. and wife Colleen of Sandown, Michael Menard and wife Jennifer of Nottingham; one daughter, Kathi Blades and her significant other Steve Nicholson of Fremont; 8 grandchildren, Dana Blades and wife Marissa, Stacie DiPerri and husband Andrew, Emylee Menard, Evan Menard, Samantha, Dustin, Ashley and Andrew Nicholson; and 1 great-grandchild, Avary DiPerri. He is also survived by 7 brothers, Ronald Menard of Nashua, Kenneth Menard of NV, Ralph Menard of Concord, Nelson Menard of Mesa, AZ, Alfred Menard of Mont Vernon, Ernest Menard and David Menard, both of Chester; 2 sisters, Jeanne Hicks of Londonderry, Theresa MacGregor of Durham; and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH. A funeral service will be on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
