Stephen Robert Kennedy, 60CHATHAM - Stephen Kennedy died peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital on November 5, 2016, after a long illness. His mother and brother were by his side. Stephen was born on April 22, 1956 to Sylvianne H. Kennedy and the late Robert J. Kennedy in Worcester, MA. He grew up in Shrewsbury, MA and attended Shrewsbury Public Schools. Stephen really enjoyed working in several sheltered workshops throughout his adult life in the Worcester area and on Cape Cod. He was a hard worker and always one of the most productive contributors each day. He was an avid candlepin bowler throughout most of his life and in 1997 won a bronze medal in the Special Olympics. Stephen made friends everywhere he went with his outgoing personality and charm. He was friendly, funny, mischievous and endearing. Always introducing himself and happy to make a new friend, he shook more hands in his life than most career politicians. In 2003 Stephen moved to a group home Adult Residential Program in Chatham. Under the care and supervision of the exceptional staff members of Community Systems Inc., Stephen enjoyed his new home and the newest phase of his life. Staff members over the years came to know and love Stephen and treated him with respect and dignity and brought him happiness every day. He is survived by his mother Sylvianne H. Kennedy of South Yarmouth, his brother Daniel P. Kennedy and his wife Helene of Harwich, his nephew Andrew R. Kennedy of Brighton, and his niece Cassandra C. Healy and her husband Justin of South Dennis along with many other loving and caring family members and friends. Among them is Peter Aldrich who for the past eight years was more than a caregiver to Stephen. He became a friend and honored big brother figure to him. Stephen made people smile in life and now in memories. He was truly special and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, November 17th at 11:30 AM at St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara Rd., South Yarmouth, MA. Interment will be the following week, at Mt.
