Stephen L. NewtonStephen "Steve" L. Newton of Indianapolis died on Sunday, November 29, 2015 in his Indianapolis home. He was born on January 19, 1957, at Home Hospital in Lafayette, IN, the son of Evah Belle Newton and the late Doyle L. Newton. Steve was member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and had attended Jefferson High School and Purdue University; graduating with a bachelor's degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management in 1979. He worked in that field in both the Chicago and Indianapolis areas. Steve enjoyed spelunking, photography, bird watching, reading science fiction and fantasy, and outings to Eagle Creek and Wolf Park.Steve is survived by his mother, Evah Belle Newton and a brother, Chuck Newton (Linda), both of whom reside in the Lafayette area. He is also survived by two nephews; Craig Newton of Bloomington, Indiana, and Chris Newton of Lafayette.A memorial service will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 3305 Longlois Drive, Lafayette, Indiana 47904, at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 with Pastor Kevin Bowers officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
