Stephen William DraytonJune 29, 1948 - March 8, 2016Stephen W. Drayton, age 67, of Chubbuck, Idaho, passed away on March 8, 2016 at the University of Utah Medical Center due to a brief illness. He was born on June 29, 1948 in Los Angeles, California to Doris Virginia (Sanville) and William Bradford Drayton.Stephen lived in Glendale, California on Elm Street. He loved to swim in his pool and hang out with friends that he kept in contact with and saw at annual reunions. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School and went to Glendale Community College for a year before he joined the US Navy. He played the trumpet in the marching band while in basic training. He served on the USS Permit, nuclear submarine during the Vietnam War.Stephen loved playing musical instruments, mostly guitar. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also taught the trade to the electrical apprentices for years.Stephen was married to Cora May Gardner for almost 46 years. They loved to travel together and went all over.Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Bill; mother, Virginia; sister, Pauline Olsen; mother-in-law, Viola Gardner; and father-in-law, Earl V. Gardner. He is survived by his wife, Cora May "Max" of Chubbuck; son, Brad (Karen) Drayton of Stansbury Park, Utah; daughter, Stefane (Joe) Yeaman of Pocatello; grandchildren, Lindsay and Ryan Drayton; Leathie, Joey, Zachy, Stevie, Frankie and Winston (just born) Yeaman; sister, Judy (Norm) Kubota of Torrance, California; nieces, Janice (Kenny) Ghoslin of La Crescenta, California, Dawn (Ray) Gallagher of Torrance, California; sister-in-law, Linda Gardner and brother-in-law, Lynn Gardner. He loved his family, his children and his grandchildren and he will be dearly missed.The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield, and again on Monday at 11 A.M. until time of funeral which will be held at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Military Rites will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Pocatello.
