Steven E. Brunner, entered heaven on February 17th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on August 1, 1949, in New York, NY. He was raised in New Jersey, and received a B.A. from Monmouth College, where he majored in speech and drama. Theatre was his passion. He moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and worked in healthcare reimbursement for several years. In 2005, Steve moved to South Carolina. Steve was recognized by Senator Glenn G. Reese, for his ten years of outstanding and dedicated service to the students of Spartanburg School District Five for his work with autistic children. He loved his job in this field of education. For many years, Steve was a mentor in AA. Many who knew him, have said that Steve was not only their friend, but that he was instrumental in saving their lives. Steve had a unique way of bringing positivity to everyone he met. And as a fraternity brother of Sigma Alpha Mu at Monmouth College, (University), Steve stayed close to several "brothers" for 47 years. He was instrumental in organizing a wonderful "Sammy" reunion 6 years ago, where fraternity brothers gathered at the college and renewed their friendships. During the last year of Steve's life, he bravely faced many cancer treatments, never complaining, and always being optimistic. Steve is survived by his fiancé, Julia Moss, his sister Judy Martisek and brother in law, Michael Marney, and sisters Kate Bell and Virginia DeCicco. He will also be greatly missed by Julia Moss's daughter, Julie and husband Tate Motts, and grandchildren, Julia Hope and Trace Motts. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Rosetta Menifee.
