Steven L. "Monk" Montgomery, 66, of Findlay, Ohio, passed on September 28, 2020. Steven was born on January 25, 1954. He is survived by two daughters, Kelli Montgomery of Gulfport, FL, and Jenny Montgomery of; Granddaughter, Cydney Dysinger of Columbus; brother Gary of Atlanta, GA. Steve received his education from Findlay High School and The Ohio State University. Steve was the owner of the Barking Lot Veterinary Clinic for 4 decades. He is proud that he got to enjoy working for the best staff he ever had in his final years. Prior to that, in his early years Steve worked for UPS as a package car driver. During that time, he also taught Karate. At times he would take his advanced students away from the DOJO to work on guerilla warfare techniques and put them on his ninja workout stations. He always got a chuckle out of the new white belts asking when they would learn to break boards and bricks. His reply was "The first time you walk down a dark alley and get attacked by one, we will learn to break them." Steve was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Mt. Cory Lodge #418, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo and The Shriners. For many years Steve was a Shrine clown, working parades all over NW Ohio and the Shrine Circus in Toledo. His favorite parade was the Findlay Halloween parade where so many people he knew did not recognize him. Later he retired from the Clown unit to volunteer for the Roadrunners as a driver and also as their dispatcher. The roadrunner unit transports children and their parents free of any charges to the Shriners Hospitals. For Northwest Ohio, Steve dispatched the patients and drove the hospital vans to Chicago, IL, Erie, PA, Lexington, KY and the burn unit in Cincinnati, OH. When Steve retired from the Roadrunners, he had logged enough trips in miles that he was on his 7th trip around the world. In February 2012, Steve met the love of his life Lynette Snyder. Even though their plans were cut short, Steve cherished the years they enjoyed together. Arrangement are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. At Steve's request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 N.
