Steven Michael "Mickey" LongLadsonSteven Michael "Mickey" Long passed away July 20, 2017 in Ladson, South Carolina after a prolonged illness. He was born on June 12, 1946, in Greenville, South Carolina and is predeceased by his mother, Alice Marjorie Dalrymple Long and his father, Leonard Houston Long. Mickey is survived by his loving children, Tina Michele Long Kehoe and Jeffrey McNabb Long, as well as son-in-law Michael James Kehoe and granddaughter Kate Breanna Kehoe. He is also survived by his brother Robert Lynn Long of Clearwater, Florida, his sister Ellen Ann Long King of Americus, Georgia, and devoted family members Brenda McNabb Williams of Ladson, South Carolina and Barbara McNabb Williams of Greenville, South Carolina, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Growing up in Greenville, Mickey was an all-around athlete competing in track, football, basketball, and bowling. He was named in the Greenville News over 75 times for his achievements in Berea High athletics and was the 1963 & 1964 Class B State Champion in the 880-yard run. "Mr. Everything" is what one high school teammate called him, and he was voted "Most Athletic" by the Berea High School Class of 1964. After attending Brevard College in North Carolina, Mickey enlisted in the
United States Navy during the Viet Nam War, serving as an Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician and Electronics Technician on the USS Independence until his Honorable Discharge, receiving a National Service Medal. He then worked in the electrical field for 25 years, ending his career as an Electrical Construction Manager and retiring in 2009. Mickey loved his children, Clemson Tigers football, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching old classic movies, drinking cold beer, and eating hot dogs and good ol' Southern cooking. He was known for being a gentle, mannerly Southern man.
