Hierl, SueMary Sue (Bisenius) Hierl, 80, of Fond du Lac, passed away on October 24, 2016 peacefully at her home on Lake Deneveu with family by her side. She was born on May 21, 1936 to the late Gerald and Elinor (Utter) Bisenius in Cleveland, Ohio.Sue graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1954 and attended Marquette University School of Nursing for a short period of time. She was married on June 2, 1956 to H. Thomas Hierl at St. Joseph's Church in Fond du Lac by Msgr. Henry G. Riordon.Sue was always a spark of love and understanding with everyone she met. She lived for today, rather than worry about tomorrow or regret whatever happened yesterday. She was an inspiration to all; an instinctive leader and a brilliant role model.Sue's need to serve people, even while raising her own family, nurtured her active participation in Charity Club and Service League, along with serving as a sanitary district commissioner in her earlier years, and currently as a member of P.E.O. and Daughters of the American Revolution. Sue also served for five years as First Friends coordinator at First Wisconsin Bank.Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom; children, Thomas J. Hierl, Susan M. Hierl, Lisa A. (John) Bakken, Kathryn M. (Bill) Fisher, Michael J. (Melissa) Hierl, James P. Hierl and Jennifer S. (Brian) Baker; sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas and Joseph Bisenius; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Elinor Jane and a brother, Albert Bisenius.Visitation: Sue's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. Visitation will also be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac.Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Cremation will follow the services. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Hierl Family plot at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.Memorials for Sue Hierl may be directed for Spiritual Bouquets or to St. Mary's Springs Academy or to the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes.Zacherl Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
