It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we bid farewell to the one and only Sunday Oku. Born on April 9, 1940, Sunday brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. His passing on June 22, 2023, leaves a void in our hearts but also provides an opportunity to celebrate a life well-lived.
My father was a proud resident of Ndi Oji, Abia where he spread his infectious positivity and warm spirit. He was a beloved partner to Cecilia Oku, who brought endless love and laughter into his life. Together, they shared a bond that lasted a lifetime, through thick and thin, always supporting each other.
But my father’s true pride and joy were his nine children. His love for his children knew no bounds, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them and ensure they had the best opportunities in life.
Sadly, on that fateful day, he left this world due to natural causes. Despite the heartache we feel, there is solace in knowing that he passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
As we reflect on the remarkable life of Sunday Oku, let us remember his infectious laughter, his embracing nature, and his love for life. May his memory be a constant source of inspiration and joy for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
His legacy lives on through his 20 cherished grandchildren, who will undoubtedly continue his legacy of compassion, love, and the ability to find humor in every situation. Rest in peace, dear Sunday. You will forever be in our hearts.
