Susan J. Accardi-Muller, MD, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4 in Chicago, IL. The daughter of the late Marie and Leonard Accardi, Susan was born on May 8, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine, her residency at Michael Reese Medical Center, board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and was a graduate of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. An esteemed Doctor of Psychiatry, Dr. Accardi-Muller dedicated her career to helping provide better care for her patients and formed meaningful and trusting relationships with those she served. Susan met her husband and best friend, Jan Muller in late February 1980 and they were married in Chicago in November 1981. Together they experienced a full life with a deep and mutual passion for discovering new places, walking in nature and a tremendous love for animals-providing a warm and loving home to their beloved fox terriers: Sam, Juliette, Nalle, Britta and Leah. An avid traveler, Susan enjoyed vacationing with Jan, friends and family and loved exploring the beaches of Hilton Head Island. Together, she and Jan shared wonderful journeys through European cities, Sweden's stunning archipelagos, the beautiful stretches of beaches in the Bahamas and Hawaii, the coast and countryside in California and the quaint streets of a culture-filled Quebec City among many others. She will be remembered by her wonderful friends and family for her loyal and caring heart. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Jan, her stepchildren Jan Jr. (Deb) and Lisa (Max).
