MOUNT PLEASANT - Susan "Tudy" Nowatney, age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at her residence. She was born on December 31, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Lt. Col. Ronald and Arlene (nee Schmidtke) Feavel. Susan spent her early life as an Air Force "brat" living across the country. She graduated from high school in Portsmouth, NH in 1962. Following high school, Susan attended Beautician School in Arkansas and also Teaching School in Union Grove. She then proudly became a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her children; Terry (Louann) Gifford of Franksville, Deborah (Cary) Barth of Mt. Pleasant, Nick (Supaporn "Oil") Nowatney of Omaha, NE, and Paula (Tom) McKenzie of Rockford, IL. Grandchildren: Brienna Barth, Natalie, Nathan, Mathew Nowatney and Theeraphon "Peter" Tongsrimaung, Emily and Alex McKenzie. She is further survived by her dear sister Jill "PJ" Floyd of Horseshoe Bend, AR, Jill's children and grandchildren, many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and too many beloved friends to count. Susan is also further survived by her guardian angel canine companion Mr. "Opie" Taylor. Susan was preceded in death by her husband Michael Nowatney, her parents Ron and Arlene Feavel, stepson Michael Nowatney, Jr., and brother-in-law Archie Floyd. A visitation will begin at 2 pm on May 5, 2012 at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Avenue (Hwy 11) in Union Grove with a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Victoria Millar to begin at 3 pm. In memory of Susan, memorials should be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or to Hospice Alliance.
