Susan Hummer, 63, of Draper, Utah, passed away on October 3, 2024. Born on January 9, 1961 to Margret and Ernest Kay. Susan was a beloved member of the community known for her friendship and sassy spirit. She touched the lives of many with her infectious smile and stories. Susan was a dedicated friend who brought joy and laughter to those around her.

Susan was born at George Washington Hospital in Washington DC. Susan grew up in Prince George County, Maryland. Then, she moved to Alexandria, Virginia, when she was older.

Susan went on to go to school at Thomas A. Edison High School, she attended Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, and transferred to George Mason University, where she finished her undergrad pre-law.

Susan was married in 1982 and had 2 children. In 2002, Susan was introduced to the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. She was baptized in Germantown Maryland on April 25th, 2002. In 2002, Susan was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and began her long fight with MS. Susan was a strong woman who fought MS for 22 years.

Susan loved hummingbirds and cardinals. You would be surely surprised if you didn’t see one near her or on her blankets or clothes. She had a love for schnauzers and had a beautiful schnauzer named Bailee. Susan had a love for food. She loved a good old Prime Rib, baked potatoes, and stuffing. But don’t let that fool you she also had a sweet tooth! Susan would seldom be seen without some hostess cupcakes and reeses peices and lemonade. Susan hated zucchini, so she would tell everyone she was allergic. Her kids and close friends would always get a laugh out of it.

Susan is survived by her Ex Husband Wayne Hummer, Daughter Grace Cripps, Son Eric Hummer, Son-in-law Jordan Cripps, Daughter-in-law Stephanie Penny, and her 5 grandchildren, Lydia Cripps, Carder Cripps, Griffyn Cripps, Avery Hummer, Alice Hummer.

Susan will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

(From her grandbabies) We love our Mimi with all our hearts. Anytime we would see her, her face had the biggest grin; Ready to see what we were learning and how much we’ve grown! She loved sharing her treats with us as much as we loved making her and Christen laugh for being silly. She loved listening to all the stories!

Susan and I worked together in 1981 and became inseparable friends. My husband and I introduced Susan to her husband. She was the first to share in my news that I was pregnant with my son and became his Godmother. We lived in the same apartment complex and spent all of our time together. Our lives took us in different directions and I haven't seen her in 20 years. Over the years we have kept in touch through her times of struggles and challenges. The pain is over and she can rest now. She will be missed.❤️

Susan could always make you laugh. She is the only person I know that would openly admit she would spray can whipcream in her mouth. She would laugh and show you how to do it properly. She will be missed.
