Susan Elaine Stephens, age 57, of Juneau, Alaska passed away at her residence the morning of Monday June 27, 2016. Having survived a 10-year battle with cancer, she passed away due to natural causes in the comfort of her home. Susan was born on November 26, 1958 in Juneau, Alaska to Jim and Elaine Vuille. She had three siblings Michael and Robert Vuille and Elizabeth Chapman. She was a proud mother to her two sons Paul Dillon and Gary Quinn Stephens. She was also mother-in-law to Hannah Stephens and grandmother to Oliver Stephens.Susan graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 1977. She attended vocational school and started a career in the airline industry sparked by a lengthy family history of her father's involvement with aviation. She began her career at Wien Airlines in the early 80's and eventually joined and remained with the Alaska Airlines team from June 5, 1989 up until her death. Susan, being a local Juneau girl her whole life, had a special love and appreciation for the outdoors. One of her most cherished places was Lake Hassleborg. She loved to travel; Seattle in particular was a place she visited frequently and viewed as a second home as her boyfriend of 10-years currently lives there. Her travel also had taken her to paradises like Hawaii and internationally as far as China and Ireland. More than anything Susan had a love for watching her two sons play baseball. Susan always made it a priority to be at the ballpark watching and cheering for her sons. Her grandson Oliver brought a love and joy out of Susan unmatched by anything else in her life. Susan's loved ones will truly miss her personality, spirit, and presence. Her unconditional love for her family will never fade nor be forgotten. There will be a celebration of life held at Resurrection Lutheran Church located in Downtown Juneau on July 23, 2016 at 2pm; this will be potluck style gathering, please bring a dish to share if you so desire and dress in attire you would like to remember Susan by.
