DANIELS, Susan HaydenSusan Hayden Daniels, 59, of Jupiter Farms, FL, passed away Sunday November 20, 2016, after a short illness, with her husband, Michael, by her side. Susan was born on September 17, 1957 in Daytona Beach, FL. She is preceded in death by her father Burl Frederick Hayden. She is survived by her mother Bertha Malloy Hayden Wright; her husband of 37 years Michael M. Daniels; in-laws Dorothy and Michael Daniels; two brothers-in-law Ronald (Anita) Daniels and Duane Daniels; a sister-in-law Diane (Michael) Riley; nephews Clinton Riley, Austin Daniels, Garret Daniels, and John Michael Daniels; nieces Christy Riley and Brittany Daniels; and her beloved dogs Lexie and Tonka, and her horses Cracker Jack and Virginia. Susan graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, and the University of Florida with a Bachelor Degree in Special Education. She first taught at Fort White Public School, Fort White, FL as a Varied Exceptionalities Teacher for Grades K-8 and then was an Educational Therapist at Parent Child Study Center in West Palm Beach, FL before teaching Grades 6-8 at Edison Russell School in North Palm Beach (Special Education). Susan switched career paths and became a Real Estate Broker. Her passion for the community and environment led her to pursue a Law Degree from Nova Southeastern University, specializing in Environmental, Administrative Quasi-Judicial Proceedings, and Local Government Law. She helped establish Nova Southeastern Environmental and Land Use Law Center for Palm Beach County and a General Law Practice in Jupiter. She educated and enlisted fisherman, business owners and land owners to be participants in the BP oil spill claim to supplement their livelihood until the fishing industry recovered. As a community activist, Susan became entrenched in numerous areas for Northern Palm Beach County. She was President of Jupiter Farms Residents as a founding member, in 1992. At the same time she was instrumental in helping start the Jupiter Farmer Newspaper. She was a Charter member of the Jupiter Farms Neighborhood Planning Committee that developed the Neighborhood Plan that became an overlay to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Additional noteworthy accomplishments included her work on numerous Everglades' issues, with Palm Beach County to purchase environmentally sensitive lands, and with attorneys and staff of 1000 Friends of Florida in Tallahassee for the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Growth Management. Susan was a member of the JupiterFIRST Church in Jupiter where she was a Deacon and served on the Building Committee. Her greatest joy was being a Sunday School Teacher for 3 and 4 year old children. A Celebration of Life will be held at JupiterFIRST Church on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00PM.
