KENDALLVILLE — Susan J. Stier, 68, formerly of Kendallville, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 15, 2015. She was born on October 30, 1946, in Glendale, Ohio, to the late George H. and Jean H. (Benton) Eversman. She married Bernard "Bud" Stier on December 23, 1967, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After becoming ill with ovarian cancer, Sue and Bud moved to South Carolina to be with their daughter. She worked in hotel customer service for several years at the Auburn Inn and Holiday Inn Express in Auburn and Kendallville, Indiana. She was the co-founder of the St. Joe Pickle Festival and for many years helped with the Spencerville Covered Bridge Festival where she was in charge of the entertainment. She attended New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo, Indiana, and Life Bridge Church and The Gathering in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Surviving are her husband Bud Stier of Seabrook, South Carolina; a daughter, Lisa (Mike) Kidd of Seabrook, South Carolina; two sons, Paul Stier of Columbia City, Indiana, and Shannon (Pamela) Stier of Avilla, Indiana; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Eversman Pranger. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stan Earle Eversman. Calling will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at St. Joe Church of Christ, 508 Jefferson St., St. Joe, Indiana. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, Indiana. Shawn Browning from The Gathering will officiate.
