Sylvia Shaw Fountain passed away peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, on Tuesday, Jan. 15th, 2013. She was born on the Shaw farm in Richlands, on Sept. 4th, 1925, the sixth of seven children born to William Shaw and Roberta Cox Shaw. She attended Richlands High School.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Billy Fountain; her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Fountain; brother-in-law, Jere Fountain; sister-in-law, Frances McDowell; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Sylvia had many dear friends and was known for her great generosity and wit. She was instrumental in building a successful business, Fountain's Auto Service, with her husband, Billy. They worked together for 34 years and retired in 1987. After retirement, they shared many adventures traveling together, once taking a two month trip to Alaska in a motor home.
She was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for more than 60 years, serving on several committees and contributing her time and talents to the church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday night, Jan. 21st at Jones Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 1985 Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
