Sylvia L DorrisSylvia L. Dorris, 98 years, passed away April 12, 2017 in Cox Hospital Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a brief illness.Sylvia was born on June 30, 1918 in Custer County, Nebraska to Morris Ducker and Cora Wadsworth Ducker.She is survived by her son, Max Dorris and his wife Glenda; grandchildren Steven Dorris, Stacey Vallejo, Malinda Peak and Anne Dorris; great-grandchildren Courtney, Ryan and Jennifer Dorris, Alex and Tony Prewitt, Isabel Vallejo, Casey Dorris and Hayley Lampe.She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dorris of Springfield, Mo and her son Larry Dorris and his wife Lynda of Marshfield, Mo.She and Jack owned and operated a typewriter sales and service business, OAMI, for many years where Sylvia was the bookkeeper. After retirement, they delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and were recognized for their long-time commitment to the organization. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Springfield since 1962 and was very active in the church.Sylvia loved going fishing with Jack and spending the day on the water. Later they enjoyed taking their grandchildren to the lake with them. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was always involved and interested in their activities.Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No visitation is planned.
