Moreno, Sylvia S. 64, passed away on October 31, 2016 in Tempe, Arizona. Sylvia was a Texas native from San Antonio, born on October 7, 1952, who traveled a great distance throughout her life before settling in Arizona. The second to the oldest out of ten siblings, she is survived by her husband Sonny and four children: David, Steven, Maria, and Manuel. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Angela, Vincent, Brianna, Mario, Lauren, Cameron, Lawrence, and one great grandchild, Charly. Sylvia spent her work career in the medical and dental field, she ran for Phoenix City Council, and Maricopa County Healthcare district 16 before concentrating on work again. She liked to spend time in the huge backyard that she helped design and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. Better known as the fighting Sylvia, aged 64, she passed away at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital in Tempe, Arizona, after a courageous battle against cancer. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM. Rosary will be at 11:00 AM and the funeral mass will be at 12:00 PM, at 1537 West Monroe Street, Mater Misericordiae Mission, in Phoenix, AZ. Pallbearers will be Sonny, Manuel, David, Steven, Vincent, Ronnie, Matt, and Ian. The family of Sylvia wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the rest of her family, friends and all medical staff that helped her to fight her cancer.
