Ott, Sylvin A.Sylvin A. Ott, 91, a resident of Chassell, MI passed away at home on Thursday February 16, 2017.He was born on December 2, 1925 in St. Joseph, WI, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Goeser) Ott. Sylvin was raised in Sheboygan, WI and graduated from Central High School.Sylvin was a veteran having proudly served his country with the United States Army in Saipan during World War II.He was united in marriage to the former Rosella Sonntag. The couple resided in Sheboygan, WI and then Indianapolis, IN. Upon his retirement from Electric Steel Castings, they moved to Lakeland, FL and spent summers camping in Indiana. In July of 2001, after over 50 years of marriage, Rosella preceded Sylvin in death. Since 2006, he has made his home in Chassell with his daughter Linda Ott.Sylvin attended St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell. Everyone knew him as a hard worker. His working career included meter reading, retail, mechanical and electrical technician and campground caretaker. He was a "family man" and enjoyed baseball, the Green Bay Packers, working in the yard and garden, watching the birds and animals in the yard, and raising his chickens.Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, his sister Loretta Mahler, infant sister Sylvia, and his brothers Leander and Edward.Surviving him are his children, Linda Ott of Chassell, Susan (Larry) Harvey of Clearwater Beach, FL, Barbara (Jack) Mears of Largo, FL, MaryBeth (Lyle) Gregory of Brownsburg, IN, and James (Donna) Ott of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, April Gregory Hill, Joshua Gregory, Andrew Gregory, Kendra Ott and Kira Ott; three great grandchildren, Baylen Gregory, Casen Gregory and Landry Hill; brothers Ervin, Elmer and Elroy Ott, all of Sheboygan, WI; sister, Mary Jane Hemsing of Sheboygan, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.A memorial mass for Sylvin will be held at 11:00 am on Monday February 27, 2017 at St. Ann'e's Catholic Church of Chassell with Father Ben Hasse to celebrate.
