Tamsie Ellen Foust Burns, 85, of Rt. 4, Elgin Crossroads, a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away on March 17, 1985. Tamsie was born on January 4,1900, to James and Margaret Anne Foust.
Tamsie married Perry Burns in 1918, and is survived by their eight children, Annie Snow Wright, husband John of Dee, of Jacksonburg, Margaret Lottie “Dot” Coats, husband Howard of Chicago, Illinois, Ruby Gooch of Florence, Horace Burns, wife Elizabeth of Elgin Crossroads, Faye Howard of Lexington, Judy Weems, Husband James Willard of Flornce, Jackie Burns, wife Wanda of Elgin Crossroads, and Glenda Burns, of Elgin Crossroads. One still born daughter, Dorothy. Tamsie is survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at the Elgin Church of Christ, Bro. Melvin Campbell officiating, Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with burial following at the Barkley Cemetery. The family will receive the public at Elkins and Son Funeral Home, Florence, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Pall Bearers are Dalton Gautney, Jerry Greer, Hurn Foust, Homer Foust, Jackson Foust and Herman Foust.
