Terry Lea Gilmore of Hampstead, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at Jones Funeral Home, Holly Ridge with the Rev. Preston Wells officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Terry was born on July 1, 1954, to the late Thelma Maxine (Bednar) and Ted Baker, and was raised by Richard and Thelma Bednar in Joliet, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her son, Alex Gilmore.
Terry is survived by her loving and nurturing husband of 33 years, Greg Gilmore, know to the residents of Hampstead and Surf City as "Capt. Sax." Daughter, Brenda and Kerry Gibson of Jacksonville; son, Matthew and Candy Gilmore of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Katie and Rodney Rhodes of Louisville, Ill.; and son, Shannon Gilmore of Hampstead.
Her treasured grandchildren Ariel, Cody, Alyssa, Zoe, Gabe, and Kenna.
Additional survivors include her dad, Richard Bednar; sisters, Debbie and Rich Reyes of Morris, Ill., and Joyce Grey of Texas; brothers, Rick and Loretta Bednar of Vine Grove, Ky., Donna and Gunnery Sgt. Jay Wade of Jones, Okla.; sister, Rhonda Lake of Joliet, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry has worked for FEMA for 15 years. She truly enjoyed traveling and helping others in their time of need. But most of all... she loved her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the North Carolina Food Bank.
