THELMA CLARA BAMPTON It is with great sadness that we, her family, announce that Mom (94 years young), Thelma Clara Bampton, has gone peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 29. 2016. She passed away at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Mom was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on Sunday, September 10, 1922 to Ralph and Clara Sanders. It is fitting that she was born on a Sunday because her faith in God served her well all her life. As a young girl, Mom attended Toronto Bible College and always wanted to be a missionary overseas. Due to her poor health, Mom returned home to Quebec and focused on being a missionary at home. She was a true gift to anyone that knew her. Mom married Alfred Windle Bampton in 1946 where they lived in Sherbrooke, Quebec and started their family. With three children and family all around, Mom showed her love through music, her faith and her generosity. In 1967 Mom and Dad moved the family to Toronto, Ontario where she continued to be of service. Although her marriage ended in 1974, she continued to keep her faith in God strong and loved our Dad to the end. As a member of the Spring Garden Baptist Church, Mom held her Christian family close in prayer and in fellowship. Her "Lunch Bunch" gang of women was also an inspiration as well as her many bible study groups. There are so many people that followed Mom in her Christian journey and will be lovingly remembered. Thank you for all your phone calls, visits and cards the last few weeks. Mom leaves to cherish her three children, David, Elizabeth (Ron) and Janyce (Rick); Grandchildren - Jeremiah (Janine), Raegan, Ashley (Sean), Lacy (Lee), Peter, Angela, Cathy and Daniel; Great- Grandchildren - Tristen, Miah, Jessen, Nova, Kyle, Hayley and Jeremy. Many other special nieces, nephews and friends will cherish a piece of Mom that she shared time with. We want to especially thank cousin Linda Sanders-Vos for her love, dedication and support over the years. A celebration of life will be held at Shepherd Village (3760 Sheppard Avenue) on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Mom's final resting place will be with her parents at Reedsville Cemetery in North Hatley, Quebec. Mom requested that donations be made in her name to the Overseas Missionary Fellowship Canada, 21 - 5155 Spectrum Way, Mississauga, Ontario L4W 5A1, where she worked and made many friends; or a charity of your choice. Every time we think of you, Mom, we know that you'll be tap dancing in Heaven, loving you always.
