Ted Fifield, 83, died on Nov. 24, 2016, in Klamath Falls, Ore. Mr. Fifield was born on Sept. 2, 1933, in Boise, Idaho, to Ralph and Tressa (Fitzmorris) Fifield. He attended Burns Union High School in Burns, Ore. Mr. Fifield served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He never saw combat for he was stationed in Panama working in communications in the Canal Zone. In 1956, he married Joan Hilderbrand. They had four children. He began his career working as a printer at the Burns Times-Herald. He and his family moved in 1960 to Pendleton, where he worked at Larson's Printing. He enjoyed attending the Pendleton Round-Up each year. He came to Klamath Falls in 1969 and was employed by Smith-Bates Printing Company until he retired in 2001. He was an active member of the Pressmen's Union in Klamath Falls, serving as their secretary, treasurer, and president over the years. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed working in his yard. He was devoted to his family. Mr. Fifield is survived by Joan, his wife of 60 years; children and spouses, Debbie Fifield, Barbara and Bob Coon, Linda and Brian McLaughlin, and Michael Fifield; three grandchildren, Courtney and husband Tyler Pate, Kadyn Fifield, and Ariannah Fifield; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Myers and Tracey and Mandy Coon; and three step-great-grandchildren, James, Marcus, and Mitchell. A memorial service will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. A graveside ceremony will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at 10 a.m. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, at 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, (541-883-3458), is in charge of the arrangements.
