Theodore L. Ted Higgins1937 - 2014Theodore L. Ted Higgins, 76, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Kenosha Hospital.He was born on Aug. 18, 1937, to the late Everett Q. and Ella (Lloyd) Higgins in Erwin, Tenn.Ted entered the
US Navy on Sept. 7, 1954. He was a Gunners Mate and served during Vietnam and
Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged and retired on June 10, 1974, as a Chief Petty Officer.On Nov. 26, 1959, he married Judith M. Knighton at All Saints Chapel in Jacksonville, Fla.After retirement from the US Navy, Ted worked as a shop foreman for Ryder Trucking for several years.Ted enjoyed antique cars, camping and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.Ted is survived by his loving wife, Judy of Pleasant Prairie; his daughters, Debbie (Warren) Combs of Dewitt, Ill., and Jodie Higgins of Pleasant Prairie; his grandchildren PFC Brock (his fiance; Stephanie) Higgins, Austin (his fiance; Brooke) Higgins, Saralyn Higgins, Stephen (Michelle) Combs and Michael (Lee Ann) Combs; his great grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Staci, Stephanie, Kylee, Joshua, Misty and Brian, his great- great grandchildren Jaxon, Hailei and Sydney and his sister Violet Droke of Gray, Tenn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his siblings, Atlas, Leonard, Ernest, J.D., Everett Jr., Helen, Mildred and Mac.Funeral Services for Ted will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home (125 Idletime Drive, Greeneville, TN). Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will take place on Friday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorials would be appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Paralyzed
