Maher, Sr., Theodore John "Ted"Theodore John "Ted" Maher Sr.Age 56, formerly of Elmira, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at his home in Leesburg, VA surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia and Bone Degeneration Disease. He was born on May 15, 1961 to Carol Francis (Russell) Maher who survives him and raised him with her husband, John Richard Maher Sr. who preceded him in death in 2001. He was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth 1965 and his youngest son Daniel Jacob in 2014. He is survived by, his children: Sean (Cindy) Maher Apex, NC; Jolean (Randy) Cain of Berkley Springs, WV; Ted J. Maher Jr (TJ) of Hermitage, TN; grandchildren: Christian and Jackson of Apex, NC; Lauren, Morgan, Lexi and Sarah of Berkley Springs, WV.He is also survived by his beloved mother, Carol Francis Maher of Elmira; brother-in-law, Richard Bucovaz of Woodbridge, VA; brothers and other family members, Peter (Sharon) Maher of Elmira, John Jr. (Kathy) Maher of Breesport, NY; Michael Maher of Chantilly, VA; aunt and uncle, Shirley (Thomas) Nellis of Corning, NY; with cousins Sherry, Karen, Amy and Julie; uncle and aunt, James (Diana) Maher of Elmira; with cousins, Pam (Todd) Curren, Patty (Robert) Howe, Coleen Maher and Joseph Maher; Martin Russell of Horseheads, NY. Also surviving him are several generations of cousins, second and third and several close friends from both the Elmira and the Washington DC Metro Areas from where he had lived and worked for over 33 years. Ted owned and operated his own construction business in Elmira at an early age before moving to the Washington DC area where he worked at first as a Master Electrician and later as an Entrepreneur as a Business and Technology Consultant until his death.Ted enjoyed raising and spending time with his children, learning new skills of the industries he worked in and boating. Ted requests that there be no flowers or other arrangements for his service but wishes in lieu of flowers to make contributions in memory of his son, Daniel, donated to his memorial page at A.F.S.P.
