Theresa Jeanette McBreartyHOCKESSIN, DE: Theresa Jeanette McBrearty, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Saturday October 15, 2016.Theresa, daughter of Joseph and Ruth Taylor, was born on January 14, 1958 and raised in Kingston, OH. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1980 with a degree in History. In 1987, she and her family moved to Delaware, where she raised her children and worked for the Read House, Winterthur, and the Delaware Court System.Theresa was an enthusiastic gardener who enjoyed visiting the gardens at Longwood and Winterthur for inspiration. She was keenly interested in American decorative arts, deriving great enjoyment from the historical houses in Old New Castle and Wilmington. She also loved cheering on her Ohio State Buckeye football and basketball teams.Theresa is survived by her four sons Michael (Amanda), Charles, Dennis, and Patrick, as well as their father Mike. She is survived by her five siblings Thomas, James (Ilona), Barbara, Robert (Kathy), and Margaret (Mel), her six nieces and nephews, and her eight grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her companion Colin and his family. Her love for her family was beyond measure.Her family would like to express their immense gratitude to the nursing staff at Christiana Care and Seasons Hospice. Their extraordinary grace and compassion provided immense comfort during very difficult times.A public service will be held at 1pm on November 12th at the Copeland Lecture Hall at Winterthur Museum.
