Blizzard, Thoburn Eugene (Toby) Thoburn Eugene Blizzard (Toby) passed away on September 9th, 2017 at Morningstar Assisted Living Center. He was born on July 30th,1933 to George and Marie Blizzard in Zanesville, Ohio. He is survived by two daughters: Cindy Sue Marley and Pamela Ann Bourdo, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His parents moved to Arizona in 1949 where he attended Mesa High School and enjoyed playing varsity basketball and competing with other teams. He was a competitor and perfectionist, especially in his hobby of building and flying model airplanes--locally and at various locations around the U.S. He attended Arizona State College for three years. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. He married his H.S. sweetheart in 1954 in Mesa, AZ. She insisted he finish his degree at Arizona State College which led to a trip to "The Soviet Union" with his instructor and a few students, Later, the Soviet Union separated from the southern countries and became "Russia". Toby enjoyed an illustrious career in Prestress Concrete; the building of "prestress" bridges and parking garages throughout the southwest. He became president of the company and held this position until his retirement. Their daughters Cindy Sue Blizzard and Pamela Ann Blizzard were born in 1955 and 1957 on the same date 2 years apart. They, along with Pepper, the family Doxie, enjoyed family fishing and camping at the various lakes around northern AZ. In that era, tents and camping were allowed along the lakes' shoreline! The high point of their youth was a trip to the World's Fair in NYC. Toby never lost his interest in building, flying, and competing in model airplanes. His oldest daughter also enjoyed the hobby for a few years and one year won "The U.S. Open". Her dad loved coming in 2nd that year!!!
