SHEFFIELD LAKE –Thomas "Surf" Surface, 59, passed away Sunday December 4, 2016 due to complications from pneumonia. He was born on September 16, 1957. He attended Brookside High School and was a lifelong resident of Sheffield Lake. He was an avid sports fan and particularly loved baseball. He enjoyed coaching his children's teams and even when his kids grew up he continued on coaching. He was involved in Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball and Lorain County Hotstove for many years, most recently with the Sheffield Venom and was also involved in many different organizations and fundraisers throughout the years in the community. He was a member of the Sons of Amvets Post 55 and VFW Post 8686, both in Sheffield Lake. Tom made many lifelong friends who are like family and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Amy (nee Stana) Surface, his two daughters Jaime (Cody) Norris and Kylie Surface, one grandchild, brother Jeff (Pam) Surface, sister Kim Surface, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Surface and parents Edward and Margaret (nee Baldwin) Surface. The family will receive friends on Friday December 9, 2016 from 4:00 until time of service at 7:00 PM at the MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon. Interment will be private
