Hlinak, Thomas "Coon" A.Thomas "Coon" A. Hlinak, age 73, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, passed away in Green Bay on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer.Tom was born on November 25, 1943 in Manitowoc to Geraldine Wolfert Hlinak and the late John Hlinak. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1962. Tom then enlisted with the United States Army and then served his country until his honorable discharge. He had been employed by Ameritech as a lineman for many years until his retirement in 1999. Tom was a long time member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club and also enjoyed his time at the Oneida Casino. Survivors include Tom's three children, Mark Hlinak, Elgin, IL; Brenda (Chad) LeGreve, Green Bay; and Diane Rice, Green Bay; four grandchildren, Ian and Donovan Hlinak, Calan and Corbin LeGreve; mother, Geraldine Bessert, Manitowoc; brother, Dave Hlinak, NC; also other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his father, John Hlinak; and stepfather, George Bessert.A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A prayer service will be led by Rev. Dave Pleier at 5 p.m. Military rites will then be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
