Thomas Alfred SmiggenNaples, FLThomas Alfred Smiggen, 84, of Naples, FL peacefully passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Avow Hospice following a battle with cancer. He was born on October 6, 1932 and grew up in Dearborn, MI. Tom graduated from University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1958 and practiced dentistry in Dearborn for 10 years before moving to Owosso, MI, where he established a successful dental practice. Tom was an active member of the Owosso community acting as Chair of the Shiawassee Republican Party, President of the Owosso Country Club, and President of the Owosso Rotary Club. He also volunteered with Owosso Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. In Naples, he served on the Board of Windstar Country Club and volunteered at the public schools. Tom was an active sportsman who loved golfing, fishing, skiing, sailing, hiking, and more. He also loved dancing, telling jokes, attending sporting events, and photography. Always an avid learner, late in life, he also took up piano lessons. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife of forty-three years, Janet Morris in 2009. He is survived by their four children, Michael (Debbie) of Scottsdale, AZ, Patrick (Rebecca), of Ada, Christine (Jeff) of West Bloomfield, and Bryan of Royal Oak, MI; and three grandchildren, Jennifer (15), Charlotte (9), and Thomas (4). Following Janet's passing, Tom was blessed to find love again and is survived by his adoring wife of seven years, Judith Molitor. Through Judy, he is survived by step-children, Clay of Raleigh, NC and Lia of Prattville, AL; and step-grandchildren, Meredith (23), Madison (22), Miranda (16), and Mark, Jr. (15). The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Rebecca Kosloff and Bruce Nakfoor for providing excellent care and comfort over the last 18 months. Funeral services will be performed at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Naples TOMORROW, Friday, February 10th at 10:30am.
