Thomas B. Cox, Jr. Thomas B. Cox, Jr., passed away on December 5, 2016 after a short illness. He was born on April 12, 1932 in Middletown, N.C. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force. He retired after twenty-six years of service at the U. S. Coast Guard Base and was the owner and operator of C & H Oyster Bar in Elizbeth City since 1967.He was pre-deceased by his parents, Thomas B. Cox, Sr., and Mildred Spencer Cox; his first wife, Daisy Mowers Cox; and his second wife, Bertha Tadlock Winslow Cox.He is survived by his children, David (Carol) of Kill Devil Hills, Cheryl (Daniel) of Elizabeth City, Jeff of Elizabeth City, Ken (Vickie) of Hertford; his step-children, Judy (Kenyon) of Weeksville, NC, Ronnie (Jean) of Elizabeth City, and Mike (Terri) of Elizabeth City; eight grandchildren, Alexandra Cox, Benjamin Cox, Dale Winslow, and Eddie Winslow, Samantha Franklin, Kelly Winslow, Lisa Lawrence and Tanya Heath; two sisters, Dorcas Waller and Brenda (Thomas) Swayne; two brothers, Jerry (Becky) Cox and Roger Cox; his companion Gail Sanderlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Twiford Memorial Chapel officiated by Minister Brad Giffin.
