Mr. Thomas C. Kennedy Sr., 87, of Lake City, FL, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL following a lengthy illness.Thomas, known as Big T to his friends, was born on December 4, 1928 in Midland, PA. A graduate of Midland High School, Tom went on to play football for Miami of Ohio and Pitt University. This made Tom a lifelong lover of sports, especially football, and he was a loyal Steelers Fan. After college Tom served in the U.S. Army as an MP and was a Veteran of the Korean War.Thomas was employed as a steelworker by Colt Industries, a subsidiary of The Crucible Steel Company, for 24 years before moving to Florida in 1982. He later retired from Walmart in 2006. In Lake City, Tom was a member of Lake City Christian Church and the American Legion.Thomas was preceded in death by both his mother, Emily Kennedy and his father, Frank D. Kennedy Sr., both of West Palm Beach, FL and his younger brother, Frank D. Kennedy Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL.Thomas was blessed with a loving wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia J. Kennedy, 84, of Lake City, FL. He is also survived by a son, Thomas C. Kennedy Jr. of Lake City, FL, a second son, Daniel J. Kennedy of Industry, PA and a daughter, Jere L. Kennedy of Midland, PA. Thomas also has 3 stepchildren. Carol J. Gerace of Lake City, FL, Connie L. Miller of Monaca, PA and Pamela L. Kellum of Ocala, FL. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Final arrangements for Thomas were respectfully taken care of by I.C.S. CREMATORY in Lake City, FL.Thomas will take his final journey to Chester, WV, where his ashes will be interred at Locust Hill Cemetery.
