Thomas was born on February 10, 1927, and lived in the Hopewell Community of Benton County, Mississippi all of his life. He died at home on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Walnut, MS with Rev. Byron Forester officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell Cemetery.He was the oldest son of Rubye Street Daniel and Luther Gaston Daniel of the Hopewell Community. He was married to the former Sue Jean Griffin, deceased May 9, 2010. He had three children: Kathy D. Wilburn (Wayne) and has two children: Jennifer W. Braddock (Ryan) and Cory W. Wilburn (Amanda) and three grandsons, Kaden A. Braddock, Eli W. Wilburn and Trenton D. Braddock, and one granddaughter, Ila Wilburn; Lynn D. Blackard has two children: Kim Burnette and Eric Russell (Brittany), and two grandsons, Caden L. Russell and Madden T. Russell; and David T. Daniel has four children: Zachery T. Daniel, Kourtney L. Daniel, Kayla B. Daniel and Kaitlin D. Daniel and one granddaughter, Autumn Fairies. Thomas has two brothers, Tate and Freddy (Donna), and four sisters, Lucy Watkins, Joan Garner, Shirley McClain (Lamon) and Linda Jordan (Joe) living. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Rubye Street Daniel and his brother, Frank Hiriam Daniel. Thomas was a life long member of the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as elder and adult Sunday School teacher and Bible study teacher. He was a
World War II veteran where he served in Germany. He was a former Boy Scout leader and former member of the Benton County Democratic Committee, the Northeast Benton County Fire Department and the Benton County Fair Board. He was a farmer and self employed carpenter. He served two terms as Benton County, Mississippi, First District Supervisor. Memorials may be sent to the Hpewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
