Thomas Edward "Ted" Knight, 85, Monticello, passed away at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the Greenfield Health Care of Greenfield. He was born on April 23, 1932, in Flint, Mich., to the late Edward James and Mildred (Erwin) Knight. On April 30, 1958, in Indianapolis, he married Nellie Amelia Russe; she survives. Ted moved to Indianapolis following serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He became involved in the Pike Creek Church of the Brethren, serving on the board for several years, Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 F. & A.M., both of Monticello, York Rite as a Knights Templar, and the Scottish Rite. Surviving are wife, Nellie A. Knight, Monticello; daughters, Paula M. (Bill) Lucas, Adam's Lake, and Nancy (Van) Knight –Jackson, Greenfield; son, Ted E. Knight, Fairfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren; sister, Betty Joe (George) Gunn, Clio, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Edward James and Mildred (Erwin) Knight; and son, Richard James "Jimmy" Knight.Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pike Creek Church of the Brethren, 7047 E. 175 N., Monticello. Masonic Services by the Brothers of the Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 F. & A.M. of Monticello, followed by Celebration of Life Service at the church at 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Jason Metzinger of the Pike Creek Church of the Brethren of rural Monticello officiating. Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard will be conducted at the Pike Creek Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to the wishes of the donor.
