Thomas Hawthorne Garber, "Tom", age 65, passed away on October 3, 2016 at his home in Arlington, Texas with his wife, Johanne, by his side. Tom was born on September 20, 1951 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to Alice and William Garber. Tom spent his formative years growing up in the Panama Canal Zone graduating from Balboa High School in 1969. He completed his education in the United States where he earned a bachelor's degree from Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Tom began his career at Southwire Company in Carrollton, Georgia. In 1987, he furthered his career by accepting a job at Carrier Transicold in Athens, Georgia where he was a loyal employee of nineteen years. Tom finished his career at Kubota Tractor Corporation as a specialist in purchasing and cost containment. Tom was a hippie at heart. A laid back, kind and generous man who never met a stranger. His passion for competition and sport was passed onto his three daughters through softball which he played well into his 40's. He was a patient, dedicated father who could be found at the ballpark every weekend cheering on his daughters as they played the game he taught them to love. A jack of all trades, Tom could fix anything broken and with master carpentry and painting skills could build anything after "measuring five times and cutting once". Along with spending time with family and friends, Tom enjoyed relaxing on a sunny day in his beloved backyard paradise, grilling out by his pool with his favorite music playing. He will best be remembered for his love and knowledge of music and his extreme talent playing guitar leaving behind many songs and "bluesy" rifts that he composed and recorded himself. Tom was preceded in death by his father William Cole Garber. He is survived by his mother, Alice Dawson Garber, and his loving wife of 16 years, Johanne Robichon Garber and his daughters, Autumn Griffin (David), Mandy Wissel (Randy), Mikey Jiles (Tyler) and his two granddaughters, Oliva Wissel and Rylie Jiles. He is also survived by his four siblings and many nephews and nieces. Donations are appreciated in Memory of Thomas Garber.
