Thomas J. GeorgeMercer, MOThomas Joseph George, age 82, 1935-2017MERCER, MO: Thomas Joseph George of Mercer, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017. He was born on May 22, 1935 in Fort Dodge, IA; the son of the late Raymond George and Pearl Cain George. Tom graduated from Gilmore City HS in 1953. He enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country. Tom married Sandra Karen Nash of Des Moines, IA in 1957, and together they raised five daughters. He later remarried Judy Enos, with whom he shared over 25 years, until her passing in 1999.Tom was employed as a professional truck driver for 40 years, and was a member of Teamsters Local 238. At the age of 61, Tom retired from Hyman Freight Ways and built a home on Lake Marie in Missouri. Tom was quite a character with an extremely quick wit. He was an animated conversationalist, frequently using hilarious analogies. He lived life to the fullest, and at his core was a very generous and kind hearted man. He routinely spent hours riding around Lake Marie in his John Deere Gator, visiting neighbors and dear friends, accompanied by his beloved dog Katie. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Princeton, MO. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Iowa State Cyclones.He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy George; siblings, Mary Frances Lane and Paul George; daughters, Deborah George and Barbara George, and step-sons, Tommy Enos, Mike Enos Sr, Jeff Enos, and Ron Enos. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Carol George, Suzanne George, and Linda (Matthew Hill) George; step children, Andy (Donna) Enos and Pam
Smith; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and his beloved nephews and nieces. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Princeton, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Burial with Military Rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA. Parish Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO with visitation following until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Princeton, MO and/or the Veteran's Organization of the donor's choice in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
