Thomas J. RepkpAGE: 90 • Toms RiverThomas J. Repko, 90, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2017 surrounded by family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son and will be dearly missed. Tom was predeceased by the love of his life for 67 Years in 2016, Anne Repko and his 8 siblings, Betty, Anna, Agnes, John, Joseph, Andrew, Francis, and Rosemary.Tom was born on September 8, 1926 in Freeland, PA to the late Anna and Andrew Repko. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and afterwards attended Penn State University. After getting married in 1948, Tom and his family moved to Linden, NJ, where he found work at
General Motors. Tom was a hard worker who often worked up to 3 jobs to help support his family. He spent his career at the U.S. Postal Service working his way up from a mail carrier and retiring as a supervisor. He also enjoyed utilizing his organizational skills at his post-retirement job working for Schlecter's Industrial Supply for 10 years. He was a devout member of the Catholic Church including being a lector and member of the Parish Council at St. Teresa's in Linden and a member of St. Luke's in Toms River, where he has resided for the past 25 years in Shenandoah Commons. He prayed the rosary daily. Tom was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.Tom was an intelligent and thoughtful man who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, and reciting poetry. His favorite poem was The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. He was also known for his curiosity and tinkering with gadgets around his home. He was a proud Slovak and lovable grandfather, referred to as "Zed" by his grandchildren. Tom will especially be remembered for his work ethic, wit, faithfulness, and devotion to his family.Tom is survived by his three children, Roxanne and her husband John Reuther (Toms River), Thomas and his wife Patricia (Hamilton Square), and Joseph and his wife Kimberly (Tinton Falls); his grandchildren, Jessica and her husband PJ, Katie, Amanda, and Matthew; his caregiver, Tina; and many dear nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River 08753. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Luke's R.C. Church, internment to follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul at St. Luke's R.C. Church or Catholic Charities USA.
