Thomas Joseph HaasHattiesburgThomas Joseph Haas, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, after a brief illness. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Edward William and Mary Florence and his brother, James. He was born on May 18,1942 in Cleveland. He was a devoted brother, uncle and friend. Tom was loved for his intellect, humor and devotion to family and friends.He loved discussing history and current events. With his brothers, Jim and Joe he helped build a successful oil and gas business.Tom attended John Carroll University leaving in his final year to pursue his passion for current political events as an editor for a journal on foreign affairs. Tom traveled internationally extensively as a writer and pursuing his business interests.Tom bravely fought his cancer, never asking for help or sympathy. He will be greatly missed by all.He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Evelyn (James), John, Joseph (Cynthia), Robert (Linda) and William (Teresa). His many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins will miss him.A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Tom's hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Fabian Parish, 5266 Old Highway 11, Suite 70-214, Hattiesburg, MS or .
